Round 5 (Fall): McKim
(You don't know how long I've been waiting to get a toddler and a pet in a house together, just for this!)
Previously with the McKims, Marian's pregnancy meant it was time to move out of the bar and into a new house; baby Orla came into the world; and Amy Tang! left without paying.

With Milo being an independent business owner, he has the luxury of making his own hours, and both he and Marian choose to spend the first days of fall hanging around the house and enjoying Orla's toddlerhood.

The little one hasn't quite got the hang of sleeping through the night, so Marian takes advantage of the time to work on teaching her to talk, which she mostly accomplishes by recounting old Real Housewives episodes.

"And then Kelly was like, 'Omigod, what is this, a gift bag?!'"

"And she just throws herself on the bed and starts sobbing! Over the gift bag!"

"IDK, that chick's bananas crazy!"

(By the way, that little face? Only 1 Nice point! What?!)

Turns out, both Milo and Marian have just 3 Nice points and 3 Playful points each. Who knew? They're stealth meanies.

Milo was a bachelor for a long time, just focusing on his music and taking things day by day. He never expected to settle down. But he's become quite taken with this little lady.

In fact, he's finding it increasingly hard to imagine life any other way.

Marian: "Whyyy are the pears so big?"

Milo goes off to work at the bar, and Marian spends her morning greeting townie passersby in her nighty, followed by a little light cleaning.

Yardbird: *is judging*
Speaking of Yardbird,

Orla: "What is dish furrah ting?"

Orla: "Ohh, es niiiice."

Orla: "Yuh, I lubs im."

So, not wanting every family to have 2-3 children, I was going to keep Orla an only child. But then she was just so damn cute, I couldn't resist. Also, Marian's LTW is to have 6 grandkids, and that seemed like a bit of a burden to rest on Orla's shoulders alone, so this is a win-win for everyone.

Milo thinks his old lady is foiiiiine!

Yardbird: *is alarmed by the goings-on in his surroundings*

"Eeuuuuhhhh..."

"Don't think about him naked don't think about him naked don't think about him naked-- fuuuu!"

Marian: "What am I doing? Oh, you know, just thinkin' about that dude I hate and checkin' out my manicure while I lounge around in my pregnancy underthings in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. You?"

Over at the bar, Milo's transformed his old living quarters upstairs into a karaoke lounge.

Marian's having one of those pregnancies, where all of her motives are constantly hovering in the danger zone and she can barely make it to the couch without collapsing in a cloud of stink and fatigue. So the next day when Milo heads out to work, he calls his old pal Jasper over to come lend a hand.

He may not be the world's best babysitter, but neither Milo nor Marian has too many friends in town (3 Nice points, remember?) so he'll have to do.

Anything to give Marian a chance to recharge a bit while she's in her last trimester.

Milo does his best to keep things running smoothly at the yoga studio; but until Ste-Margo gets some more townies, it's going to be hard to get enough customer loyalty stars to move up the ranks. Since his LTW to have 5 top-level businesses, this has him feeling a bit down. But there's about to be big news waiting for him when he gets home!

Milo: "So, is this dessert going to have to wait, or...? Cuz, y'know, I just put the whipped cream on, and you know that's going to melt, like, immediately. Hon?"
Marian: "NNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH."

It's a boy! They name him Ernest, after Milo's dad, but they'll all be calling him Ernie. Hello, Ernie!

Everyone more or less passes out from sheer exhaustion at that point.

But Milo stays up a little bit longer to play with his new son. He can't help it. He's in love all over again.

Y'know, Yardbird might be the only TS2 pet I see any personality in. SO PRECIOUS, SO SOPHISTICATED.

(Orla's little faaaace.)

Hee, precious and sophisticated! Yardbird is certainly the most enjoyable pet I've played so far, but I think that might be mostly that I'm finally paying attention to everything since I started the BaCC.

Really looking forward to Orla's birthdays!

Most people just get so occupied by the human-looking sims, they don't pay enough attention to the pets. You have to look before you can see.

Don't worry - my two most popular, highest-reputation sims have one and three nice points. They're well-socialized and don't go around being mean. Even my sim most likely to pick fights usually does it to people he can plausibly believe are doing his friends some kind of wrong. I'm afraid jealousy is the only good explanation for the fights he picks with his mother-in-law, though. Mean sims may have small circles of friends, but they value them highly.

I'd be scared to have Jasper help out with the kid while my spouse was home, myself...

Yes, that's exactly what I meant when I said taking pictures and keeping the LJ finally got me to notice all the little things that go on in the game! Pets were so boring to me when I was just playing aimlessly, but Yardbird's proven himself to be quite fun to have around.

Nice points are so confounding. Maybe I just don't let my sims use their free will enough to see their personalities in action? But then Ramona last time decided to shock Yves totally on her own, and she has 10 Nice points. Don't get it!

I don't think we have to worry about Marian and Jasper. She's not likely to put up with his foolishness now that she knows him better.

Orla is so adorable! Can't wait to see how she'll grow up, and Ernie too.

Also, Yardbird's reactions are simply priceless.

Thank you! I'm quite pleased at how it's turning out, especially since it was put together so quickly in anticipation of Orla's birth. Parts of it are still rather bare, but I'm just calling it "minimalist" for now.
I can't wait to see him either!

Orla is such a sweetie! I'm sure big sisterdom will suit her fine. And good luck to Yardbird with all those strangling-age children about!

Loyalty stars are a problem in small empty hoods, it is difficult for me too.
Does Milo really intend to run five businesses? Does he know he can achieve his dream with only one business by losing/regaining loyalty stars?
