Face Templates (Again) & Orphans
Reading about the teen center and orphanage in [livejournal.com profile] maranatah's BACC, Clayfield, has had me seriously jonesing to add some of my own to Ste-Margo. After all, my younger residents could use a wider circle of friends (remember how lonely poor Piet was? But then, he was one of the first settlers, so it couldn't be helped!); and after the death of a homeless teenager living on the beach (miss you, Una!) shocked the town to its core, residents have really been pushing for some kind of child services program. So it seems like a good time to introduce some new young faces to the neighborhood!

I'm planning to let the game generate my orphans... which got me thinking about my default face templates again. I'd been growing a little dissatisfied with my current selections and was vaguely on the hunt for new ones. [livejournal.com profile] maranatah to the rescue again—her resource list led me to these two fabulous sets by [livejournal.com profile] trappingit and [livejournal.com profile] joedy_76. Their templates are all SO GORGEOUS, I can hardly stand it, and it was nearly impossible to decide which ones I wanted. Now I'm more excited than ever to see what little ones we'll soon have for our adoption pool! :D

Custom Icons for Collections
Here's another (better?) way to add custom icons without using Collection Creator.

Today's Downloading Spree Brought to You By...

http://koticouture.blogspot.hu/
So many cute little things (lots of stuff for the upcoming warm season in Ste-M) and almost everything is separates, which is great. Some of the textures are a touch more on the photoskin-y side than I'd like, which makes me wish I were better/quicker/more organized about doing clothing recolors (no, no, and no). But still, very cute!

I've been spending most of my free time the past weeks watching the Olympics, and the returning heat wave has sapped most of whatever energy I had left to sit in front of my simming computer. But I really, really do want to get back to playing! I mean it!! Soon, I hope!

Dear Self,
Stop downloading CC. I mean it! At least for a few days. Just stop. DO OTHER THINGS.

Concerned about you,
Me

CC Recommendation: Deep & Superficial
I got majorly distracted yesterday by the amazing downloads at Deep & Superficial. She has really fantastic recolors of sets and deco items from NMS, Cassandre, Billy Jean, Jope, and more; clutter and beautiful deco books; Aikea-Guinea's wall writing meshes and BV travel poster recolors; and endless cushions. So many things! I downloaded just about all of them... Go check it out! (Just be sure you're prepared for a major download-a-palooza.)

Collection Files: How do they work?
I've already posted this on MTS and my simblr, but darn it, I want to hear from all of you!

Just wondering if people had any advice to share on organizing their cc into collections. I’m mostly looking to wrangle my deco items into more manageable form, and it seems like a lot of people like to do this with collection files, which I’ve never ever used. Up to now, what I’ve been doing was recategorizing individual items in SimPE—deco books in Hobbies>Knowledge; towel and bathroom items into Plumbing>Misc; etc. This works all right, but it seems like using collections might be better/easier?

I’ve downloaded the Collection Creator and have a pretty well-organized Downloads folder. What’s the best way to get going?

Other questions:
Can I delete all the existing Maxis collections? Right now, the collections section seems so cluttered with things I don’t use that it hardly seems better than sifting through the catalog.

How can I get things to show up only in the collection and not in the regular catalog? (Do you prefer to have things show up in both places or not?)

Any tips on how you guys use collections in your games would be great! I love hearing how other people stay organized!

Hello, My Name is mswn and I'm a CC-aholic.
Honestly, I don't understand how it is even still possible for me to go on these massive download sprees—haven't I already exhausted all the available resources over the course of my many, many, many previous sprees? How am I still finding all this stuff that I need to have?!

Erm, I mean, no, I could stop any time...

Let's Talk CC for a Bit (Or Kind of a Long Time, Actually)
I've returned from the Thing (it ended up being A Good Thing!), but as much as I want to get back to Ste-M, I haven't felt much like dealing with my simming computer (turning on a desktop = sooo much effort; let's stay in bed with the laptop forever!). Hence, another downloading spree! Especially huge since I'm still catching up on Christmas stuff from GOS. I just looked at the Dropbox folder where I'm storing all these new bits, and it currently contains 234 items, most of them .rars—eep! Oh for the days when I would blithely drag everything over to Sim File Maid and wave it adieu...! When I would download a fully decorated lot and just say, "Yes! I'll take it all!" Of course, I'm still cleaning up parts of my downloads folder as a result, but man, was it ever quick and easy. Fellow cc junkies out there, what are your strategies for tackling big hauls? Not necessarily the eventually sub-foldering strategies (although I'm always curious about how other people do that, too), but how do you like to break it all down?

A Smorgasbord of Faces!
Over the weekend, I stumbled across the dizzying array of default face templates assembled-- nay, curated!-- by [livejournal.com profile] sims_by_izza. Five whole mix-and-match sets from which to mix and match! I've been quite enjoying this set by [livejournal.com profile] katu_sims, which brought me awesome-faced townie/now-playable Marian and the lovely elf-eared Wendy Royce, but these were all just too good to resist. Did you know about these? Have you picked yours out? You should pick yours out.

(I think) these are the ones I'm choosing... )

It's just a shame I don't have any need for huge batches of townies in my game any time soon. Perhaps a vacation hood at some point? Or maybe I'll have to get a serial killer to off some hobby leaders. Ah. Anyway, fun to pick out!
