Round 5 (fall): Castaway

But on sunny days, when things still seem warm and serene, Una spends her afternoons ignoring her homework and building sandcastles to her heart's content.

Whatever makes you happy, bb. ;__;

Once she's all sandcastled out, Una remembers a fish in her inventory and decides to surprise the boys with dinner. Unfortunately, her attempts at blackening the catfish get a little out of hand.

Welp.

Una's internal monologue: Well, this isn't so bad.

Actually, scratch that!

Jayne: "Phew, it is getting hot, amirite?"
Una: *burning*

Jayne: "You still on fire? Cool, me too."
Una: *burning*

Marco: "To the rescue! Bros before hos!"
Una: *burning, you ass*

Marco: "Say, ever notice how the fire extinguisher kinda matches this tent?"
Jayne: "Face. Still. Burning."
Una: "Um..."

Marco: "Aaand last but not least..."

Marco: "...oh."

(Hang on a sec...)

(There it is.)

D:
Let's all take a moment to remember Una Castaway (Round 4 - Round 5).
Memorial soundtrack.

RIP, love.

Una's ghost is quite creepy with the black lenses. But her haunting is short-lived, as her grave is now relocated to the Una Castaway Memorial Cemetery. While Una had not been in town very long, she and the other Castaways had become fixtures in the founder's home as frequent guests of Penelope's, so Frida proposed naming the cemetery in her honor when she learned it was to receive its first inhabitant.

To help ease the sudden loneliness on the beach, Jayne decides he'd like to adopt a dog, so he and Marco scavenge more things to raise money for the adoption fee and supplies.

And here she is! They name her Una II. It's meant as a compliment.

Marco finally realizes it's too cold to sit around his in bathing suit all night.

He and Jayne spend the rest of the night in the tent sharing their best Amy Tang stories (everyone's got one!).

Jayne: "Do you think this is... safe?"

After the thrill of their marshmallows wears off, sitting around the fire (their first fire since Una died) puts the boys in an understandably pensive mood.

But Una II brings them back to reality pretty quickly. (That is not water.)

Wim and Arlo come over after school the next day. Hi, guys!

Wim takes it upon himself to clean out the doghouse, which is mighty nice of him.

And Arlo, hearing it was Jayne's birthday, brought a cake from his family's bakery as a surprise.

Still pretty cute, if not quite as smushy (but isn't that always the way?).

After a slice of cake, Jayne calls for a cab and packs up his few things.

He and Marco have been through a lot together, and he hates to leave him behind; but Jayne's made a promise to someone else.

With Jayne gone, the beach is quieter than ever. And winter is coming...

I see you didn't have the heart to do much story. Can't say I blame you. The silent panels make it all seem very solemn.
Is Marco going to find an abandoned building to live in during the winter? Make friends with Eustacia so she can talk her parents into finding him a warm corner in that crowded house? Become St. Margo's first fireman?
Ah, the visitor cleaning the doghouse...One of my favorite sims moments involves a visitor cleaning the doghouse...which gives my reading of this story an extra layer of resonance everybody else lacks. Luck of the draw there.

Marco is going to have a tough time of it! We'll see how long he can hold out without freezing to death.
Glad you got to have the doghouse cleaning memory!

Jayne grew up to be pretty gorgeous, which is lovely! But I'm a bit worried about the impending winter...

Whoops I'm trouble *sing-song* If I can stay away from reading every single one of your posts until the 14th, my blind date might get some valentine gifts.
I'll need to make sure I'm alone in the house while reading them too because I really hate for people to hear my wheezy weird only-when-I'm-really-laughing-hard laugh

If you do go back and read the older ones, be forewarned that a) LJ has borked the formatting on a lot of the old images/paragraphs somehow, and I haven't had the heart to try to fix it all; and b) good lord my old photos were bad! I did not know what I was doing! :P
